My clinical specialism is in treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain through evidence-informed techniques, centred around the biopsychosocial model of pain. This model moves beyond the traditional biomedical model by emphasising that physical health is influenced by emotions, behaviors, and environment. In every sense, this is a holistic way of working.

I am trained in deep tissue massage, sports massage, myofascial release, accupressure work, hot and cold stone work, craniosacral techniques, subtle energy work, breathwork and trigger point therapy. I flow my techniques together in a way that does not promote pain but enables your body to bring itself into balance.

The process...

Good bodywork is a two-way process where you and I meet and work together. Every treatment is unique and I do not work to any set routine. "Massage is like a dance" - it flows, is intuitive and allows the body to find its pathway to healing. I will communicate with you and work 'with' you towards your goals rather than just 'doing' stuff to you.

In your first appointment, we will spend some time together exploring the pain you are living with, the history of your body and how your pain affects your everyday life. We will agree on an outcome that you’d like to work towards and a realistic plan of how to achieve this. Following an assessment of your movement, you will receive a hands-on bodywork treatment, utilising a range of soft tissue techniques suited to your needs. I am trained in a range of soft tissue and massage techniques such as deep tissue massage, Trigger Point work, Myofascial Release, Acupressure and hot & cold stone work. When we work, it is always in a way that calms your nervous system and targets areas of pain.

An important element of my work is helping you to facilitate a deeper understanding of your body. I do this in a variety of ways, drawing on yoga, chi gong, movement, breathwork and mindfulness. I will enable you to take ownership of your healing and teach you different ways you can do this. I believe that sustainable self-care comes from having a range of different tools and techniques in your toolkit.

I do not fix people - no therapist can do that. I prefer to think of myself as a person who facilitates your body to begin healing itself. You are the participant in this process. Your body will speak and we will listen. When we listen, we can understand what needs to change so that pain, stress or imbalance can be released.
