Move, breathe and be happy
I believe that moving our bodies is essential for health and happiness. Throughout my life, I've walked and run, swam and cycled, practised yoga, pilates and Tai Chi, danced and moved in all kinds of ways that felt good to me. Each of these has taught me something about how our bodies work better when we encourage them to move in a variety of ways.
I've had injuries and chronic pain, and periods of my life when I was unable to move in the ways I wanted to. A climbing injury when I was 19 led to a frozen shoulder, which led me to acupuncture and then massage. Massage exposed me to many other modalities of bodywork including myofascial work, Rolfing, trigger point release, Lomi Lomi and craniosacral work. In my mid-20s chronic pain and stiffness led me to yoga, which has remained a fundamental movement practice for me. I did my RYT200 yoga training at Yogaview in Chicago in 2011, and returned there many times to deepen my practice as a student and teacher.
We don't get a handbook when we get a body, so life is about exploring the best ways to look after ourselves. I believe that there are many ways to do this. When it comes to movement I draw on my experience of yoga and breathwork combined with strength work and an inquiring mind to help my clients understand their bodies. Whether you are feeling stiff or unable to move in the way you want to, or want to explore your body's movement more deeply, I aim to facilitate you to feel good in your body.
I offer 1-2-1 movement and breathwork classes and occasional workshops.
