Massage Bodywork
Myofascial Release

'Bodywork' describes a whole range of different techniques such as massage, myofascial release, hot stones, trigger point work & MET, all of which use manipulation, movement and repatterning to bring about structural change to the body.
Bodywork is an amazing tool that can help you to feel grounded, and release tension, pain and fatigue. The body has tremendous power for healing, recovery, and resilience if we are prepared to make the time to listen and engage with it.

Bodywork can help you to:

  • Relieve the stress life has placed on your body

  • Release muscles and mobilise joints strained from sport, gardening, work or life

  • Prepare for, or recover from, a sporting event

  • Explore the effects of your personal history on your body

  • Let go of patterns of movement that no longer serve you

  • Support your body when life gets tough

  • Ease pain and bring a sense of well-being

What I do

I use a wide range of techniques in my work including myofascial release, subtle energy and deep tissue work; hot & cold stones; dynamic mobilisations; trigger point work, energy muscle (EMT), craniosacral work and neuromuscular techniques. If you don't know what these things are, its ok!

Good massage is a two-way process in which you and I meet and work together. Every treatment is unique and I do not work to any set routine. "Massage is like a dance" - it flows, is intuitive and allows the body to find its own pathway to healing.

I choose the techniques that I use based on your needs, and then flow them together in a way that does not promote pain but seeks to enable your body to bring itself into balance. I will communicate with you and work 'with' you towards your goals rather than just 'doing' massage to you.

An important element of my work is helping you to facilitate a deeper understanding of your body. When appropriate, my massage sessions always conclude with some form of simple movement, exercise, or self-massage technique that you can take away with you and use every day to help your body return to balance.

I do not fix people - no therapist can do that! I prefer think of myself as the person who facilitates your body and mind to begin healing itself. You are the participant in this process. Your body will speak and we will listen. When we listen, we can understand what needs to change so that pain, stress or imbalance can be released.

I have been fortunate to have trained and continue to train with some of the best bodyworkers out there in the UK and the US. My core training was undertaken with The Massage Training Institute and Jing. I have also studied with Darrien Pritchard, Teach Therapy, John Gibbons, and Neil Asher.

I undertook my Yoga Teacher training with Yogaview in Chicago and returned to deepen my training with them over a number of years. My main teachers now are Quinn Kearney, Jason Crandell, Leslie Kaminoff and Tiffany Cruickshank. I am grateful to everyone I have met in the course of my life through bodywork and yoga, because each person has taught me something.
